Measures are underway to regulate electronic vaping devices including E-cigarette၊ Vape which is popular among the young people, said Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win. The Union Minister who is also the Chairman of the Central Board said the remark at the meeting of the Central Board for the Control of Smoking and Consumption of Tobacco Product held at Ministry of Health on March 3.

It is said that smoking and consumption of tobacco product are a major cause of non-communicable diseases such as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke, cancer, and chronic lung and respiratory diseases. Non-communicable diseases are becoming an epidemic worldwide, causing significant harm to public health. Therefore, efforts are being made to establish smoke-free zones and regions to protect against these dangers, said Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win.
The order regarding the packaging of tobacco and tobacco products in accordance with standard regulations, and the printing of health warning images and texts came into force December 31, 2024, so relevant authorities are urged to strive for the compliance of business operators with the order.
