The Magway Region Government said it had sent seven more disaster emergency response teams of the Regional Health Department to Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on April 21 to assist the earthquake-affected people. This is the second time that the regional government has sent such teams, and it sent more seven teams of 35 members following the first 10 teams of 49 members.

The additional teams will assist health and rehabilitation activities, said Dr Aung Myint Oo, head of the Magway Region Public Health and Medical Services Department. The Magway Region Government has provided cash and mosquito nets to the disaster emergency response team that will be assisting the activities in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.

The Magway Region Government is providing blood donations to the earthquake-hit areas of Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay as well as other necessary financial assistance and relief work. It is also learnt that since the Mandalay earthquake, 1,000 people have been fed and provided with meals every day in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
