More 52 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in a week, and the number of new COVID-19 cases is continuing to rise, according to the Ministry of Health’s statement released at 8pm on June 16.
A total of 2,285 laboratory samples were tested in a week from June 8 to 15, and the percentage of new COVID-19 cases was 2.28. Among the new COVID-19 cases, the largest number of cases is from Bilin Township Mon State, with 23, followed by Yangon Region with 17, Magway Region with seven, Mandalay Region with two and Nay Pyi Taw, Shan State (Eastern) and Kyaikto Township with one each.

At present, there is no alarming situation regarding the spread, cases and mortality of COVID-19 in Myanmar but it is necessary to follow preventive measures to prevent the spread of the disease, and the Ministry of Health has issued a notification saying that additional COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to people aged 60 and above and suffering diabetes and chronic lung disease, those with cancer and women with three months pregnant and above as a priority and that they are urged to receive the vaccine.
