A riverbank collapse in Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyarwady Region has left 135 people in 58 houses struggling to survive and feed themselves, and they are in urgent need of donations, a responsible person from the Karuna Kanlet Social Relief Association told One News. The incident occurred on May 24 at midnight, near Yankin San Yar (West Island) Village, Nyaungdon Township, where erosion caused the riverbank to give way, washing away about 20 houses and forcing the evacuation of 38 others.

Those who lost their homes and others who were displaced due to the riverbank collapse are in need of blankets, mosquito nets, pots and pans, as well as food, a responsible person from the Karuna Kanlet Social Relief Association said. Currently, there are no relief camps available for those affected by the disaster, and some individuals are seeking shelter in the homes of nearby relatives.
