The 77th World Red Cross Day was celebrated on May 8 at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township. The Myanmar Red Cross Society enthusiastically observes World Red Cross Day each year. However, this year, in light of the profound sadness caused by the loss of life and property due to the recent earthquake, the ceremony was conducted in a brief manner, as members of the society were actively providing timely assistance in the affected areas.

The Myanmar Red Cross Society is hosting a ceremony to showcase its activities over the past year and to honour its volunteers and members. The event will also recognize individuals who have served as members of the Myanmar Red Cross up to the age of 65, according to Professor Dr. Tin Maung Hlaing, the Executive Director of the Myanmar Red Cross Society.
The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Aye Htun, the Deputy Minister for Health; Professor Dr. Myo Nyunt, President of the Myanmar Red Cross Society; Director Generals; executives of the Myanmar Red Cross Society; and specially invited guests.
