An appeal was released to media not to mention misinformation about Myanmar Motion Picture Organization ( MMPO) as a gesture of helping to the donations and organization activities of MMPO.
The appeal not to mention misinformation was released due to the media headlines titled “ In the eve of the film academy awards ceremony, film stars competitively donate to the Motion Picture Organization “. The MMPO was a non-governmental organization and was a social organization organized by the forefathers of movie industry and will celebrate its 80th anniversary on March 8, 2026.
The organization relies on the support of the national government, the Ministry of Information, the Yangon Region Government, the Rice and Oil Merchants Association, volunteers, cinema owners, producers, and actors to ensure its perpetuation.
Since the Motion Picture Organization is not an authoritative organization, it has no power or authority, and it does not have the right to decide on film awards just based on its own decisions.
