Construction materials have been sold at affordable prices since May 12 in the Tabaung Ground near the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw to help with the reconstruction efforts after the Mandalay earthquake, according to The items being sold include iron, steel, cement and construction materials, and the prices and materials are being sold at the right prices to those who are in need of repairs due to the earthquake, said Daw Khine Khine Nwe, General Secretary of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
The opening ceremony was held on May 12. Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, Union Minister for Commerce U Htun On and officials attended the opening ceremony and toured the sales and exhibition areas.

On the opening day of the fair, the talk under the topic “From Repair to Prepare” was held. The discussion was coordinated by Daw Khine Khine Nwe, General Secretary of (UMFCCI), Dr Kaythi Lwin, Myanmar Iron and Steel Association Chair, U Thet San, Founder and Managing Director of Alpha Power Engineering Co Ltd and Daw Khin May Htay, Department Head (Rtd) of Mandalay City Development Committee. Union Minister U Htun On, Deputy Minister U Min Min and Director General U Khin Maung Hlaing provided additional advice.
The fair will be held from May 12 to 18, with 61 construction companies exhibiting and selling in 74 booths. This is the first time that the fair has been held in Nay Pyi Taw, and Sagaing has hosted a fair for building materials since May 12.
