A fair offering construction materials at affordable prices for the reconstruction of Mandalay after the earthquake will be held at Tabaung Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw from May 12 to May 27, according to Dr Kay Thi Lwin, the Chairman of the Myanmar Iron and Steel Association (MISA).
The first-ever construction materials fair was held in Nay Pyi Taw to ensure that the construction materials can be easily purchased at reasonable prices due to the scarcity and high prices of construction materials in the market. The fair will be held for more than two weeks from May 12 to 27.

Dr. Kathi Lwin made a remark following a meeting of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) in Yangon on May 3. The meeting focused on improving the ease of purchasing construction materials that meet established standards. To address the scarcity and high prices of construction materials in the market, the first-ever construction materials fair will take place in Nay Pyi Taw. This event will run for more than two weeks, from May 12 to 27, and and plans are underway to hold more in Mandalay and Sagaing.
Dr. Kay Thi Lwin stated that the construction materials fair will sell materials as long as there are purchase orders. Currently, there are 21 types of iron and steel materials available. Following the Mandalay earthquake, plans have been initiated to ensure that buildings are constructed according to specified iron and steel standards so that the main components remain undamaged.
