The Myanmar traditional Thingyan festival to be held in Nay Pyi Taw will be held more grandly than in previous years, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Htun Oo said.
He made the remarks at the first coordination meeting for successfully holding the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pandal held at the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Office on March 10.

Since the Myanmar traditional Thingyan festival has been recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Myanmar traditional Thingyan festival in ME 1386 will be held more grandly than in previous years. In addition, this year’s Nay Pyi Taw Thingyan Walking Thingyan Festival will include a performance that will showcase Myanmar Thanaka culture in a bid to being included as an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn said at the coordination meeting on holding the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan Festival on March 7.

This year, famous artists will be invited to the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan Festival, and as unlike previous years, Myanmar Thanaka related performance will also be with it, it will be a more joyful walking Thingyan festival, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said.
