Kanbawza Yeiktha (Chin Tsong Palace) on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road in Yangon will be turned into a national art museum, according to the Department of Archaeology and National Museum. The art museum aims to preserve and showcase cultural arts across the country, and renovation works at the place are underway.
The museum will showcase more than ten galleries and feature paintings of different eras, Daw Nan Laung Ngin, director of National Museum (Yangon) branch of the department, said.

The country has the National Museum, the National Library and the National Theatre, but there is no National Art Museum, and so, such work is underway.
The aim of preserving and displaying arts from all over the country is to raise awareness of the value of art and to encourage and promote artistic works. A coordination meeting on the renovation of the National Art Museum was held on February 16 and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mya Zan attended it and participated in relevant discussions.
