The Chinatown market festival being held on Maha Bandoola Road in Latha Township to celebrate the 2025 Chinese New Year was busy with huge crowds of visitors on January 26 evening. The festival includes selling a variety of products including personal goods, cosmetics and food and entertainment shows including lion dances, dragon dances, performances by famous DJs and artists, boat rides and children’s playgrounds and decorated places for taking photos.

The festival is being held for the period of seven days from January 25 to 31 along Maha Bandoola Road from 7 in two sessions – 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Therefore, during the market festival, a section of Maha Bandoola Road between Lanmadaw Road and Latha Road are closed. According to the traditional Chinese calendar, January 29, 2025 is Chinese New Year, and this year is the Year of the Snake.
