Yangon Region Hluttaw Representative U Nay Win from Latha constituency said that he is planning to upgrade (19) Street in Yangon Chinatown to international standards. Since the end of May, the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) has banned stalls and benches from selling on the street and street vendors from entering the street, according to market vendors.
Currently, in addition to installing lanterns to make (19) Street more orderly, Yangon Region Hluttaw Representative U Nay Win said that they will work to ensure that (19) Street is a popular place for people to go and eat in Yangon. Therefore, they have formed a committee to upgrade it and meet with shopkeepers to sell in a disciplined manner so as not to disturb pedestrians and vehicles.
A shop owner who opened a shop on (19) Street said that this has made things better. (19) Street has a famous night market and a beer and barbecue stall. It is a central part of Chinatown in Lathar Township, and is a must-visit place for foreigners, tourists, and locals, young and old.
