A notice was published in the state-run newspapers on January 10 prohibiting anyone from using the works of musician Alinka Kyawswa Sandayar Hla Htut, National Literature Award winner, Academy Award winner, for commercial or other purposes without obtaining permission except for recreational singing on YouTube, digital platforms and online media.
It is prohibited for anyone to use the songs, lyrics, melodies, musical scores, books, and other artistic works and intellectual property that Sandayar Hla Htut composed, sang and performed during his lifetime including his works for commercial or other purposes without obtaining any legal permission, the notice said.
If anyone violates the prohibition, action will be taken in accordance with the existing laws, the notice said.
