The Inle Floating Thingyan Festival in Shan State will be held from the eve of Thingyan, which falls on April 13, to the end day of Thingyan or April 16, with performances showcasing Myanmar’s cultural tradition of Thanaka.

The festival will be held with the aim of developing tourism in the Inle region, identifying and preserving the traditional cultural characteristics of the Inle ethnic people, further developing and strengthening friendship between ethnic groups and celebrating and showcasing Myanmar’s traditional Thingyan festival in a unique way and enabling domestic and foreign travelers to celebrate Thingyan safely and peacefully.

This year’s Inle Floating Thingyan Festival will take place at the Inle Lake Hall in Nyaung Shwe Township with a band and local singers, Thingyan dances, ethnic traditional dances and performances showcasing Myanmar Thanaka culture. In addition, this year’s floating Thingyan will be different from previous years with unique leg-rowing performances by Inle people. The Inle Floating Thingyan Festival was first held in 2019 but was canceled from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was resumed in 2023.
