The festive market to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 29, will be held in Latha Township, Yangon, for the period of seven days from January 25 to 31, according to the organizing committee for the market festival.
To welcome the Chinese New Year, the market festival will take place along the Maha Bandoola Road in Latha Township in two sessions — from 7 am to 11 am and from 4 pm to 11 pm.

There will be stalls selling various items of consumer goods, cosmetics and food at the market festival, and the market festival will include refreshment programmed serving with the Chinese traditional snacks as well.
In addition, visitors can enjoy Chinese traditional lion and dragon dance competitions, performances by famous DJs, music and theater artists, a boat ride for children and children’s playground at the market festival. There will also be some decorated areas for taking photos.
This year, Chinese New Year is officially designated as a public holiday, and this year’s Chinese New Year marks the transition from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake according to the traditional Chinese calendar.
