As floods often occur in some regions and states in Myanmar during the rainy season, members of Myanmar Fire Brigade have prepared in advance to carry out rescue operations, said U Thein Htun Oo, Director of the Myanmar Fire Brigade Headquarters.
Myanmar Fire Brigade personnel are engaged in both firefighting and search and rescue operations. The personnel are training in different regions to carry out water rescue operations during the rainy season, said Director U Thein Htun Oo. During the early part of this year’s rainy season, heavy rains caused flood in low-lying areas in some regions and states, forcing search and rescue personnel to go and evacuate local residents from flood-affected areas.

Since 2019, the members of Myanmar Fire Bridge has been organized into a search and rescue special team and search and rescue detachments in regions and states. The Myanmar Fire brigade Headquarters said that search and rescue teams have been prepared to go to areas at risk of natural disasters and provide assistance and rescue services.
