The Social Security Board under the Ministry of Labour will provide education subsidies to insured workers’ children who are full-time students, according to a statement of the board.
Applications for benefits for children of insured workers must be submitted within three months after the notification on family support benefits for education expenses is issued, and applications submitted after the period of three months will not be processed, the statement said.
In order to ensure that children of insured workers who are eligible for the benefits receive the subsidy equally, the maximum wage income of the insured person has been set at 300,000 kyats. The support is that 30,000 kyats will be provided to a child who is in primary education, 45,000 kyats a child in middle school education, 60,000 kyats a child in high school education and 75,000 kyats a child in university education, the statement said.
This benefit will be available to insured workers who have registered and obtained a Social Security Number (SSN). They must be the ones who are currently employed and have registered for 48 months and paid contributions for 36 months.
Employers will be required to prepare and submit the required documents for eligible insured workers to the relevant social security offices.
The Social Security Board will then review the list of eligible workers and the approved amount and approve the withdrawal of the education subsidy.
