If the homes of seafarers in the earthquake-affected areas are damaged, they can reach out to the Myanmar Seafarers’ Federation (MSF), which will fund the reconstruction costs. The federation has set up a fund of 100 million kyats for this purpose, and over 300 million kyats have been accepted from donors so far, said MSF President Captain Soe Min Aung. Recently, MSF allocated 3.5 million kyats per family to assist two seafarer families affected by the earthquake in Mandalay, stated Captain Soe Min Aung.Seafarers’ families in the earthquake-hit areas can apply for assistance from the federation by submitting evidence of damage to their homes.
After the cost of reconstruction for the damaged building has been estimated through consultation with the landlord, the construction experts and the construction team, the Federation will provide financial assistance to the fullest extent possible. The government is also providing necessary assistance and rehabilitation work in earthquake-affected areas, and both domestic and international organizations are providing necessary assistance.
