The UWSA Office issued a statement dated January 20 saying that it has granted permission for free passage of goods from the Wa region to the Kokang region as per the directives of the Chinese government.
The Wa group had blocked the movement of goods from the Wa region to the Kokang region, and the goods were allowed to pass through in accordance with the directives of the Chinese government.

The statement also said that it had received a letter from the Chinese Office in Myanmar that the Kokang and Wa regions were allowed to have full freedom of movement of vehicles, people and goods.
Therefore, since January 20, goods have been allowed to pass through the Kokang region, and all daily products and daily necessities of ordinary people can be traded normally except the military supplies, according to the statement.
Currently, besides the Myanmar-China border gates of Chinshwehaw and Laukkai, the Namtit (Mankha) gate on the Wa-China border was reopened on January 19, and gasoline has also started to flow in, according to the Wa news agency, “Wa Youth Voice Network”. U Nyi Yang, in charge of the UWSP Lashio Liaison Office, said that gasoline and construction materials have also started to flow in since the Chinese side reopened the border gates.
