Plans are underway to export rice from Myanmar to the international market and to grow rice that can be sold in the market, capital, high-quality rice seeds, and technology are required, said some farmers in Pyapon District, Ayeyarwady Region. To discuss the development of Ayeyarwady Pawsan and rice cultivation, the Pyapon District and Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) Regional Committee (5) organized the Ayeyarwady Region Pawsan Rice Forum 2025, which was held at Thiri Unnawa Hall in Pyapon Township during the third week of May. Participants included rice growers, millers, and traders.
At the meeting, a farmer, U Than Soe, who attended the meeting, talked about how to choose and grow excellent rice varieties, increase domestic and international market share, and enhance rice quality. At the moment, the majority of rice varieties exported are from the Emata and Ngasein groups, including Sin Thu Kha, Thi Tat Yin, Yadanar Toe, Nga Sein Yar Kyaw, Karen Ma, Tun Pu, GW-11, Saw Shoke, 747, Thi Pu, Hnan Kauk, Ziyar, Ngwe Toe, Min Ayar, and Shwe Mann.

The Myanmar Rice Federation’s Regional Committee (5) (Pyapon District) Chairman, U Thaung Win, stated that the organization is still searching for foreign markets to export Pawsan rice and is working to manufacture Pawsan rice of market grade.
Some consumers said that when Pawsan rice is exported to other countries, the price of the product must be controlled to prevent an increase in the home market. To export Myanmar Pawsan rice to the global market, the Myanmar Pawsan Rice Foundation was founded. To do this, a group of farmers, traders, and rice millers would get together to study the best seed strains.
