The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) announced that, at the start of the 2025-2026 fiscal year, Myanmar exported a total of 142,788 tonnes of rice and broken rice in April. A total of 49 exporting companies were involved, shipping 69,194 tonnes of rice and 73,594 tonnes of broken rice exclusively by sea; none of these exports occurred through border trade routes.
In April, broken rice was exported at the highest rate of 52 per cent while 39 per cent of 10-5-point rice from the ordinary rice category, 5 per cent of 25-point rice, and 4 per cent of parboiled rice were also exported. The largest quantities of rice were sent to China, Bulgaria, the Philippines, Spain, and Poland, with a total of exports going to 20 countries.

Broken rice was exported to 14 countries, with the highest volumes going to China, Belgium, the UK, Spain, and Indonesia. During the fiscal year 2024-2025, over 2.48 million tonnes of rice and broken rice were exported, generating export revenues of US$1.129 billion.
