New companies interested in exporting rice and broken rice to China can apply for an Expression of Interest (EOI), the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) has announced. In addition to the agreement signed between Myanmar and China for the export of rice and broken rice, regular registration will be carried out annually under the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Protocol. The deadline for submitting these applications is June 30.
New companies that wish to apply for a rice and broken rice export license can submit (EOI), but companies that have already been approved are not. Therefore, companies that wish to apply for a rice and broken rice export license can obtain applications from the Agriculture Department and technical working group for rice and broken rice export to China (Myanmar Rice Federation).
Myanmar exports rice and broken rice to China mostly by sea rather than through the border route. According to the Myanmar Rice Association, 33,223 tonnes of rice and 28,353 tonnes of broken rice were exported to China by sea last April.
