Five types of export crops has been growing commercially in Yangon Region, according to Department of Consumer Affairs, under the Ministry of Commerce. Previously, Yangon Region mainly cultivated rice and pulses, but now it has been commercially cultivating durian, mango, banana, tangerine, and ornamental plants that have good potential in the international market.

Market experts have assessed that these new export crops have good potential in the export market and that if they can be cultivated systematically and studied to meet the needs of the international market, they can become profitable export items.
Currently, Myanmar is exporting agricultural products, aquatic products, industrial finished products, minerals, forest products, animal products, and other products to international markets.
