Cement factories in Kyaukse Township, which were damaged by the Mandalay earthquake, are set to produce 100,000 bags of cement per day starting from mid-May, according to Kyaukse District officials.
Currently, the factories’ parts damaged by the earthquake are being fixed to resume operations as soon as possible. The township had Alpha Cement Factory, Two Rhinoceroses Cement Factory and Sinmin Cement Factory. The government is also working to enable the Two Rhinoceroses Cement Factory to produce 100,000 bags per day starting from May 15.

Since the buildings damaged by the earthquake are being rebuilt, if cement can be produced daily, it will be able to meet the market demand, said U Kaung Myat Naing, the administrator of Kyaukse District. It is learnt that officials are working together to produce cement essential for reconstruction efforts as quickly as possible.
