Myanmar exported 1.69 million tons of corn and earned nearly US$. 392 millions in the eight months of 2024-2025 financial year, said U Soe Win Maung, an advisor of Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association (MPBMSMA) .

65% of corn cultivation area is in Shan State and 10 % is in Ayawaddy Region as well as corn is cultivated in other areas like Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Kayin State and Kachin State.

Corn is started to grow in around May and harvested in three to four month long period. In current season, the corn of whole cultivated area died or some of them died at the time of maturation due to poor standard of corn seed.
Myanmar produces 3.2 million tons of corn and exports two million tons every year and exports mainly to Thailand.
