There are more than 700 female sailors who go to work on cruise ships with a seaman’s passport, said U Soe Min Aung, chairman of the Myanmar Seamen’s Workers’ Federation MSF.

Burmese women sailors are only allowed to board cruise ships, he said. U Soe Min Aung said that in the past 20 years, the number of Burmese female sailors on cruise ships was only 3, but now there are more than 700. In order to increase the knowledge of female sailors who will be working on cruise ships, MSF also held a career lecture a few days ago, he said.
Currently, there are more than 200 cases reported to MSF by male sailors regarding the cases they encountered on board, and more than 40 cases are still to be resolved.
