More than 2,000 tons of honey were exported during the period of nine months from April to December of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, according to the Apiculture Development Division of the Department of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary.
Nearly 2 million US dollars were earned from such exports. Honey is regularly exported to Japan, South Korea, Thailand, China and Chinese (Taipei), with Japan being the largest exporter. Honey exports are also normal this fiscal year, U Soe Naing, director of the Apiculture Development Division said.
Honey is mainly produced in Magway, Sagaing, Mandalay and Bago regions and Shan State and is exported. Locally, it is used in compounding traditional medicines.
