Rice trading has been slow at Yangon rice shops recently, and rice prices are stable, an official at Shwe Moe Rice Trading in Yangon told One News. The rice shops are seeing a slight increase in sales of coarse rice because more people are buying coarse rice than fine rice.

In previous years, trading has not slowed down, but this year, rice prices have not risen, an official at Shwe Moe Rice Trading said. In the current rice market, a bag of fine rice is priced at Ks.85,000 to Ks.130,000, while a bag of coarse rice is priced at Ks.53,000 to over Ks.100,000. In addition, the Consumer Affairs Department has issued a reference price for a bag of 24-pyi rice in the domestic market in June, depending on the type, ranging from a low of Ks.60,000 to a high of Ks.155,000.
