The earthquake-hit Mandalay Zaycho Market and Mann Myanmar Plaza have been inspected for their strength and found to be strong and safe, so shop owners were permitted to start reopening their shops and sell as usual, according to the chairmen of the Market Association.

The Mandalay Zaycho and Mann Myanmar Plaza buildings were inspected by local and foreign earthquake strength assessment teams on April 4 and 7. They were found strong and safe and allowed to reopen on April 21. The Mandalay City Development Committee has also confirmed that they are safe and have allowed them to reopen, and shops are opening in the usual opening hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Kaingtan Market building of Mandalay Zaycho is undergoing major recostructions following the earthquake. Currently, temporary shop spaces were allocated to shop owners through a lottery system. 84 temporary shop spaces have been allocated on 85th Street, between 27th Street and 28th Street. The Mandalay City Development Committee, under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Government, has opened a command office to clear and inspect buildings that have collapsed and been damaged by the earthquake.
