The prices of domestically used commercial cars are increasing in the car market, according to U Min Min Maung, Vice-Chairman of the Myanmar Automobile Manufacturers and Distributors Association.
As a result of the ban on commercial vehicle import licenses, current demand for domestic used car is high in the market and the price of used car is also rising. Commercial vehicles are a sort of car that is always needed, and the import ban has increased demand and driven up prices, said U Min Min Maung.
The current price of a light commercial vehicle, a Hi-Jet, is around Ks.60 million in the car market, and the price increase depends on the model and type of commercial vehicle.
Although the quantity of commercial vehicles need not be as many as that of private automobiles, permitting to import necessary numbers would increase effectiveness and may reduce the price.
