Garment enterprises have faced difficulties in their operations due to the shortages of imported raw materials for various reasons, said garment enterprise operators.
In the later period, domestic garment factories faced raw material shortages because of difficulties in import sector including import tax increase by the type of cloth.

Daw Yin Yin Moe, General Secretary of the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association, said that if the current issues such as the shortage of raw materials and skilled workers and electricity problems are not resolved in a timely manner, the garment industry could be affected.
The garment enterprises import raw materials mostly from China and India and currently face difficulties to get foreign raw materials due to various reasons.
