Garment manufacturers faced shortage of electricity and decline of skilled workers, said some of garment manufacturers. At present, they face difficulties due to irregular supply of electricity even though the electricity has been supplied 4 hours a day.

At the time of power shortage, they use generators and in early days they faced difficulties in purchasing diesel oil. At present, the difficulty of buying diesel oil is handled due to the arrangements of responsible persons, said Daw Yin Yin Nwe, general secretary of the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association.
In addition to electricity shortage, on the other hand, the number of workers going abroad for job increase and the number of skilled workers in local garment industries decline. Therefore, new workers are recruited and given job trainings, she said.

In domestic garment factories, they face shortage of skilled workers and they install latest modern fully automatic machineries using a few workers, according to the garment community. The townships in Yangon Regions are supplied electricity in alternate system since January 5. They are formed into three groups: (A), (b) and (c) conducting 4 hour supplied and 8 hour cut off electricity a day system, stated Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC).
