Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Myanmar has exceeded $600 million in the nine months period of the 2024-2025 fiscal year from April to December, according to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration.
During the nine months, 49 foreign investment enterprises have entered the country with an investment volume of over US$639 million.
The manufacturing sector has the highest number of investment with 43 enterprises including one in the agriculture sector, two in the energy sector, one in the transportation and communications sector and two in the service sector. The investment volume of more than 40 enterprises in the manufacturing sector is over U$138 million and the investment volume in the transportation sector over $87 million.
In the agriculture sector, the investment volume is over US$500,000, more than US$8 million in the energy sector and more than US$44 million in the service sector. Singapore’s investment volume is the largest in the current fiscal year followed by China and Thailand.
