E-Choice Taxi Co., Ltd., a public company, plans to operate EV city buses for public transportation in Yangon, an official of the company said.
E-Choice Taxi will start operating EV taxis in Yangon around the second week of January, 2025, and it is also planned to operate EV city buses. To operate the EV buses, the feasibility of operating EV buses will be studied, and a plan will be made depending upon investment value, infrastructure, and weather conditions, the official said.
It is learnt that some people have suggested that if EV city buses are operated in Yangon, the bus fares should be affordable for the public. Currently, EV taxis are being operated in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, and some express bus lines are operating EV passenger buses on their routes.
