During the state visit to the Russian Federation, an agreement was made to jointly develop the Dawei Deep-sea Port Project in Dawei Special Economic Zone, Tanintharyi Region, with Russia, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, leader of the Information Team of State Administration Council, said.
Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun made the remarks after the Myanmar-Russia Economic Forum held at the Radisson Collection Hotel in Moscow on March 5. He said that it was of opinion that the Dawei Deep-sea Port Project played a key role in Russia-Myanmar cooperation as well as for being an economic hub in Southeast Asia.
He also said that an agreement was reached to build a 110-megawatt nuclear reactor in Myanmar using Russian technology. The agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed by officials from both countries on March 4 at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow in the presence of SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
