The Remedial Work Committee for the Possible Economic Impacts of COVID-19 notified that 486 companies/businesses that have not paid interest and principal on loans lent from the COVID-19 Fund will be announced through the state-owned newspaper.

The COVID-19 Fund had provided loans to businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with a 1-year loan term (1% interest rate) since April 2020, and the loan term has now exceeded 3 years.There fore companies/businesses were notified on June 6, 2024, to repay the loan principal and interest as soon as possible by June 30, 2024. Similarly, the first announcement was made, on August 10, 2024 that companies/ businesses that did not pay interest or principal at all would be notified through state-owned newspapers and that administrative action would be taken.

Therefore, 486 companies/enterprises that have not paid any interest nor principal from the COVID-19 fund until December 2024 in the Nay Pyi Taw Council, regions and states areas will be announced in the state-owned newspaper along with the company/enterprise name, entrepreneur name, and full address. Out of Ks.200 billion of COVID-19 loans disbursed until January 2025, Ks. 118 billion have been recovered. Loans issued from the COVID-19 fund to the livestock sector, including fish and shrimp farming and loans issued to the film, music, theater, press, and media sectors will also mature in 2025, according to the Remedial Work Committee for the Possible Economic Impacts of COVID-19 .
