Both chartered and individual EV taxis are planned to operate on the Yangon-Pathein route, said U Aung Myat Thu, Yangon Terminal In Charge of Yangon-Mawlamyine and Yangon-Pyapon Route Swan Thu Aung Terminal.
Currently, chartered and individual EV Taxis are operating between Yangon-Pyapon route and Yangon-Mawlamyine route. The Yangon-Pyapon route was launched about two years ago, while the Yangon-Mawlamyine route reportedly began operations on February 9, 2025.
The advantages of EV Taxi include the air conditioning being turned on throughout the journey, a comfortable ride without noise, and the ability to offer doorstep service to the nearest locations said U Aung Myat Thu, Yangon Terminal in Charge of Swan Thu Aung EV terminal for The Yangon-Mawlamyine route and Yangon- Phyabon route. The chartered EV Taxis are operating to convenient locations for charging. Currently, there are 24 EV taxis operating daily on the Yangon-Pyapon route, and 10 EV taxis on the Yangon-Mawlamyine route.
