The prices of bricks used in construction have nearly doubled in Magway, Magway Region, according to the Magway Brick, Sand and Stone Entrepreneurs Association.
Due to a shortage of workers and rising costs in brick production, brick manufacturing business has difficulties, and the market is on the upward trend. Last year, the price of a brick in the open season was only 100 kyats and the highest 150 kyats but this year, the price of a brick is from 250 kyats to 280 kyats depending on the quality, U Myint Kyaw, chairman of the association said.
Brick is made with both manual and machine-made methods, and at least 15 workers are required in a brickyard. The bricks are delivered to the places where they are ordered in Magway Township through a delivery system.
