Starting from coming February 1, the maize can be export to Thailand again with tax exemption and buying and collection of maize is in progress, according to Myanmar Corn Industrial Association. But Myanmar corn price is stable without rise and fall, said U Min Khine,Honorable Patron of Myanmar Corn Industrial Association.
Thailand has given seven months tax exemption for Myanmar maize from February to August and it is usually terminated five months from September to end of January in the Thai maize harvesting season. In this year, as maize cultivation in Shan State and Kayar State decreased due to various reasons, the production may decline, the experts predicted.
In exporting Myanmar seed maize to Thailand, it is delivered mostly from Yangon-Kawthaung- Yanaung route and the FOB price is stable from US$ 255 to US$265 . In Yangon market, the maize prize is round about Ks.1,700 per viss and in Shan State round about Ks.1,300 per viss.
In 2023 from January to December, Myanmar exported more than 1 million tons of maize and mainly to Thailand, Philippine and India, according to the data release by Myanmar Corn Industrial Association.
