From April 2025, taxes can be paid online at Myeik and Kawthaung border trad posts in the Myanmar-Thailand border areas,according to the Department of Customs. The Department will launch the Myanmar Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) online payment system at Myeik and Kawthaung boder trade posts from coming April. The Department of Customs said that the MACCS Online Payment System has been used at Myawaddy and Tachileik border trade posts since January 1.
Department of Customs uses MACCS system for deposit payment and direct payment to pay taxes in commodity clearance process. Furthermore, in order to pay taxes using online payments through Mobile Banking and Internet Banking, the department has taken contacts with AYA Bank , KBZ Bank and CB Bank. The MACCS Online Payment System has been launched since 2023 at Thilawa Special Economic Zone and Yangon area. It will continue to use at Myawaddy, Tachilleik,Myeik and Kawthaung border trade posts in this year.
In the MACCS Online Payment System, the importers and exporters can directly pay taxes for Import / Export Declaration numbers that have Payment Statement Information through Mobile banking and Internet Banking and pay again into the Deposit Account at MACCS system.
MACCS automatically accepts and verifies import declaration forms and automatically calculates the applicable taxes. As soon as the payment process is completed, the permission to withdrawal the commodity is automatically returned by the machine.
