The Central Bank of Myanmar sold over $52.4 million through the FX Market Online Trading Platform within eight days this month.
The FX Market Online Trading Platform includes the Central Bank, AD licensed banks, and importers and exporters.
The Central Bank sold US$25 million on January 2, 25 million on January 6 and over 2 million on January 7 and over 250,000 on January 8. In addition to the US dollar, it also sold over 1.1 million Chinese yuan and 5.3 million Thai bahts over the eight days of this month.
The Central Bank has been selling foreign currencies since it changed its foreign exchange policies in December 2023. The current foreign exchange trading price on the FX Market Online Trading Platform is 3,591 kyats per US dollar, 130 kyats per Thai baht, and 538 kyats per Chinese yuan.
