Actions will be taken against those who wrote and spread the rumor about publishing of 20,000 kyat banknotes with the intension of causing economic chaos, according to the reply of the Central Bank of Myanmar. The central bank responded clearly to a post on a social network site Facebook group that said 20,000 kyat banknotes were being published in the financial market. The writing on a Facebook Group page said that 20,000 kyat banknotes are circulating and this is the response of the Central Bank of Myanmar against the post.
The rumours were spread among the people to speculate on foreign currencies, including the dollar, to destroy the stable financial market and gold market, and to cause economic chaos in the country, according to the reply of Central Bank of Myanmar. The people know that this is the time of foreign currency speculation by spreading the rumours about foreign currency as an usual practice that happen every year and true news has been published frequently.
Therefore, Central Bank is taking measures to take actions against those who are spreading rumours intentionally in collaboration with relevant officials. The central Bank of Myanmar replied that new 20,000 banknotes have been started to launch as a commemoration in limited number since July 31, 2023 and there is no plan to circulate them in public.
