A meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy on December 23 to discuss implementation of the Myanmar-China energy sharing project as soon as possible. The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin and officials and a Chinese team led by Mr. Wang Qiang, president of the South-East Asia Crude Oil Pipeline and Gas Pipeline Company Limited.
At the meeting, both parties discussed matters to start conducting a feasibility study for implementation of a project to extract natural gas and share it between the two countries through constructing an LNG Terminal in Myanmar.
Moreover, they also discussed further cooperation with China in the energy sector including upgrading of the existing natural gas pipeline connecting Kunming, China, to be able to ship the gas to Chongqing and upgrading and operation of oil refineries through obtaining crude oil from the bilateral crude oil pipeline.
