Myanmar foodstuffs manufactured as value-added products are receiving more orders in the domestic market, according to the Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association.
“Locally produced livestock and food raw materials are processed into value-added products and sold not only in the domestic market but in the overseas markets. Currently,as high-value Myanmar foodstuffs have increasingly replaced the imported items, they are receiving more orders in the domestic market,” U Aung Shwe, chairman of the Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association, said.
As exporting value-added food products makes more export revenue about three times than exporting the raw materials, the government concerned needs to provide more support for the needs, some entrepreneurs manufacturing and exporting foodstuffs said.Myanmar value-added food products such as dried noodles, bread, dried vegetables and honey are exported to Japan, South Korea and other Asian markets, and new markets will be explored, according to the association.
