The introduction ceremony of Chinese pipeline company’s ESG report was held at Melia hotel on December 17 morning. The report presents socioeconomic implementations since the beginning of the project and mainly focuses on the developments of regional society, environment, ecology and economy.
The report is an important result of ten year’s development and a serious commitment for good governance, development of people’s livelihood and environmental conservation, said Mr. Li Hai Ping, vice president of the South East Asia Oil and Gas Pipeline Company Limited.
“Currently released report is the first ESG report in Myanmar and it is the first company who releases the ESG report among the corporates in Myanmar China economic cooperation.” Said Mr. Li Hai Ping .
Currently, more than US$ 34 million has been used for volunteer and social activities through CNPC and SEAGP \ SEAOP providing more than 430 volunteer and social groups along the pipeline.
Myanmar –China oil and natural gas project was started to operate since Jun 3, 2010. It is a big international project cooperatively run by six companies from four countries. Southeast Asia Natural Gas Pipeline ( SEAGP) company take responsibilities to operate Myanmar- China gas pipeline and Southeast Asia Oil Pipeline (SEAOP ) company operates Myanmar -China oil pipeline.
Myanmar China natural gas pipeline is set to transfer 2 billion cubic meter of natural gas a year and six process stations have been built.Myanmar China oil pipeline will transfer 22 tons of oil a year through five process stations and a crude oil wharf that can handle 300,000 tons of crude oil.Present on the report introducing occasion were officials from Chinese Embassy in Myanmar as well as officials from Department of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and invited guests.
