The winter maize cultivated at Yaylei Kyun village in Thayet township, Magway Region, increases production and gets profitable price in the market, said the cultivators there.
Most of the farmers in Yaylei Kyun village grow winter maize, and one condensed milk tin of maize seeds produces more than a thousand maize.
In previous years, one ear of maize was Ks. 150 for a bulk purchasing. But in this year, the price is from Ks.400 to Ks.500. Most of the winter maize is transported to Yangon market and one ear of maize costs Ks. 700, said maize cultivators.
