Incessant rains in Minbu (Saku) Township, Magway Region, have damaged over 4,000 acres of summer and monsoon sesame plantations of local farmers.
Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and officials visited Yepoke, Letkhokepin Village and Taungman villages on June 14 to inspect the damage to sesame plantations.
During his visit to inspect the plantations, the Regional Chief Minister said that systematic land reclamation should be carried out to prevent such damage in the future due to heavy rains and floods, as well as climate change and that if high-quality farmland is reclaimed, the regional government will provide technical and mechanical support.

He continued to coordinate with relevant departments to rehabilitate flood-affected areas, prevent crop yields from falling, plant replacement crops on damaged acres in time and grow additional crops in a timely manner.
In Minbu (Saku) Township, due to heavy rains in the last week of May and June, 4,015 acres of summer sesame and 67 acres of monsoon sesame, 4,082 acres in total, were flooded, causing damage to sesame plantations, according to the Township Farmland Management Committee.
