As tomato prices fell in Magway, tomato farmers suffered losses, according to local farmers. Current highest tomato price was Ks. 800 pervious and the lowest price was Ks,600 per viss.

Although the price of tomatoes was over two thousand kyats per viss when they first came into market, the price was continuously falling and the farmers faced losses, said Daw Molly, a tomato farmer from Alei Chaung village, Magway township. Although the falling price did not serious compared to last year, the farmers suffered losses because of higher agricultural cost more than previous year.

Currently, the tomato is abundant in this time of the season in the Magway Region and farmers predict that by March, tomato yields may decrease, potentially leading to a rise in prices again.
