Test plantation of sunflower varieties donated by FUND RC-INVESTMENTS of Russian Federation was found thriving well, said Department of Agricultural Research.
Russia donated 9 varieties of sunflower and they have been under trial planting at Department of Agricultural Research in Nay Pyi Taw since December. 8 out of 9 varieties flourished well and the rest one was weak in thriving in local situation. Therefore, the sunflower farmers have a chance to choose variety, said Daw Nan Pa Pa Win, the research officer of the Department of Agricultural Research.

The trial plantations have been carried out at other plantation fields in regions and states apart from Nay Pyi Taw and sunflower varieties that will be suitable for each region will be available, according to the Department of Agricultural Research.
