The price of jaggery produced in Magway Region is experiencing an upward trend, according to jaggery producers in Magway Township. Now is the season that jaggery is produced the most as this time of the year is when toddy palm sap is abundant.
Currently, jaggery price is 8,000 kyats for a viss, and it was 6,000 kyats for a viss last year.
“This year, with the trading being good in the jaggery market, there is an uptrend in sales because the jaggery produced now is medicinal,” Ma San San Moe, a jaggery producer in Magway Township, said.
People who use jaggery as medicine buy it as well as those who make and sell Myanmar snacks.
